The Chef is a key component of our leadership chain; a food-obsessed individual passionate about service, consistent quality and growing the skills of their team. You’ll be in charge of all back of house operations for our small but mighty scratch kitchen. You’ll collaborate with our founders and Chef Advisor to perfectly execute and evolve our eastern Mediterranean-inspired menu. This role offers the freedom to innovate and push culinary boundaries while embracing the ethos that food should evoke a sense of place, whether real or imagined. Let’s do this. Key Responsibilities Schedule and supervise line cooks and back-of-house staff. Lead and organize menu preparation and execution. Innovate and create daily/weekly specials. Manage inventory and purchasing processes. Ensure consistent high-quality food standards. Maintain and update the Recipe Book. Uphold workplace safety and sanitation standards in accordance with health guidelines. Manage back-of-house team to: Prepare and plate food with precision, cleanliness, and efficiency Adhere to standardized procedures and time guidelines Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations, kitchen, and prep areas Implement proper receiving, stocking, storage, and rotation procedures Practice safe food handling, including labeling and dating Operate and clean kitchen equipment safely and effectively Conduct regular deep cleanings of the kitchen Perform station inventories and checklists Required Skills A team-oriented and ego-free attitude. The ability and desire to engage deeply and broadly about some aspect of art, music, food, or beverages. Professional integrity. Strong leadership abilities. Effective time and inventory management skills. Extensive wine knowledge (a plus, not required). Familiarity with POS systems. California Food Handler Card. Ideal candidates possess Strong sense of urgency. 3-4 years fine dining experience in a back of house position. Capacity to remain positive and composed under pressure. High energy levels, organizational skills, and ambition. Unreasonable hospitality mindset (iykyk). Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Capable of handling objects with hands. Frequent bending, reaching, and stooping. Capacity to lift, move, and carry at least 50 pounds as required throughout shifts. Conversational proficiency in Spanish and English (preferred but not required).
